 Mr Brett Godfrey,
Chief Executive Officer Virgin Blue Mr Brett Godfrey 46, is the Chief Executive and co-founder of Virgin Blue Airlines Limited which comprises Australian domestic carrier Virgin Blue, international airlines V Australia, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue, a joint venture airline with the Government of Samoa.
Together the airlines operate over 400 flights daily to 28 Australian and 15 international destinations.
Virgin Blue burst onto the Australian scene as a groundbreaking model stimulating historic change launching low cost air fares for high quality airline services and permanently changing the face and cost of air travel in Australia and throughout the region.
Brett is also a Director of the Board of WestJet, Canada's leading low-fare airline offering scheduled services to 33 cities in North America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Prior to conceptualising and launching Australia's Virgin Blue Airlines in August 2000, Brett had a 12 year career in aviation and finance which included appointments as Chief Financial Officer of Belgium based Virgin Express; Finance Manager of Virgin Atlantic based in London and Group Financial Controller of Sherrard/National Jet, in Melbourne.
He started his career as a Chartered Accountant with accountancy firm Touche Ross.
Mr Godfrey holds a business degree from Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia and is an award winning leader recognised internationally for services to aviation, customer service, tourism and business.
In the nine years since launching Virgin Blue with two aircraft and 200 staff, Brett has steered the airline company through eight of nine profitable years of growth.
